Chelsea Keenan, I’m a Photographer.
I grew up along side my dad, Larry Keenan in his home studio. He’d be working with pin registration one minute and up in his dark room the next. I see a lot of my dads style in my work, which will always a special reminder of him. My mom, Lisa Keenan also an award winning photographer specializing in food, packaging and catalogue. We’ve been fortunate enough to work together for years.
My career began by assisting, having grown up in many studios assisting was a natural and enjoyable, but It wasn’t long before I became mesmerized with the retouching on set. I felt like it was something I’d be excellent at, if I could just learn photoshop! After a lot of trial and error, I taught myself – before youtube videos. Since, my motto has been ‘anything is possible in photoshop’ and this attitude has helped me make dreams reality for clients.
It wasn’t long before my interest in photography really gained momentum, I had an immediate style which was bold/edgy and ‘complex.’ It felt like there was so much to express and total freedom to do it. By 22 I’d photographed a National Campaign, editorial work for magazines, recording artists and noticed by industry professionals. Since I’ve branched out into more commercial and corporate work, products, lifestyle and more in between.
